thisquietarmy – Hiatus (CD)
18,00 $ +tx
Hiatus is thisquietarmy’s first post-pandemic full-length solo release of new material since Kesselhaus (2020) as Quach has been mostly focused on his collaborative releases with Away, N & Sleepwalker and his other projects Houses of Worship, Some Became Hollow Tubes, Hypnodrone Ensemble & Pangea De Futura.
As a matter of fact, Hiatus is not even a studio album but rather a live document of TQA’s first solo performance in more than 2 years since the beginning of the pandemic and also the first time performing a church in his hometown of Montreal.
The concert took place on April 23, 2022 at Église Saint-Esprit de Rosemont, one of the rare churches with Art-deco architecture (built 1931-1933) and was organized by Montreal-based Hiatus Productions which Quach chose to name the record after, but also to represent the global interruption of activities rendered by the gathering restrictions.
Though no rehearsal time for this performance was possible due to recovering from an infection, Quach is rather known to fully improvise his sets when performing in atypical settings of worship, and uses the massive reverberation of the architecture to execute a hypnotic meditative purge.
