BIOGRAPHIES
Michael Robinson (1981, États-Unis) est un artiste basé à Los Angeles qui réalise des œuvres de cinéma expérimental depuis 2001. Mêlant des matériaux originaux et détournés, il crée des films collages qui explorent les mécanismes émotionnels des médias populaires, le potentiel transcendant du chagrin d’amour et l’instabilité des réalités collectives dans lesquelles nous vivons.
Les œuvres de Robinson ont été présentées à l’échelle internationale dans des lieux tels que le MoMA, la National Portrait Gallery de Londres, la Biennale Whitney 2012, le Musée autrichien du cinéma, le Walker Art Center, le REDCAT, la RHA Dublin et le MMCA Séoul, et ont été projetées dans des festivals de cinéma tels que Rotterdam, New York, Berlinale, Londres BFI, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Sundance, FICUNAM, Cinéma du Réel, Ann Arbor et Toronto. Il est titulaire d’une licence en beaux-arts de l’Ithaca College et d’une maîtrise en beaux-arts de l’université de l’Illinois à Chicago (UIC). Il enseigne actuellement la réalisation cinématographique au California Institute of the Arts.

BIOGRAPHIES
Michael Robinson (1981, USA) is a Los Angeles-based artist who has been making works of experimental cinema since 2001. Blending original and found materials, he creates collaged films exploring the emotional mechanics of popular media, the transcendent potential of heartache, and the instability of the collective realities we inhabit.
Robinson’s work has been presented internationally at venues including MoMA, London’s National Portrait Gallery, The 2012 Whitney Biennial, The Austrian Film Museum, The Walker Art Center, REDCAT, RHA Dublin, and MMCA Seoul, and has screened in film festivals including Rotterdam, New York, Berlinale, London BFI, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Sundance, FICUNAM, Cinéma du Réel, Ann Arbor and Toronto. He holds a BFA from Ithaca College, a MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), and currently teaches filmmaking at the California Institute of the Arts.
