Twinklight est une performance de cinéma élargi en constante évolution qui observe et explore l’expérience des rencontres en ligne et l’attrait pour la culture du « cruising ». Une performance mêlant lumière, couleur et ombres, qui utilise la surface d’un corps trans comme support de projection.

BIOGRAPHIES
Elian Mikkola est un cinéaste finlandais (d’origine carélienne), qui vit actuellement à Montréal (Tiohtià:ke). Mikkola est titulaire d’une licence en journalisme de l’université de Tampere et d’un master en beaux-arts de l’université de Regina.
Mikkola travaille aussi bien avec des images analogiques que numériques et explore des thèmes tels que le transfuturisme, la contre-archivage et l’appartenance queer. Depuis 2017, il mène des recherches approfondies sur l’écriture de scénarios expérimentaux et le cinéma sur pellicule.
Son travail a été présenté dans plusieurs festivals de cinéma au Canada et à l’international, notamment au Festival international du film de Rotterdam, au Festival international du film de Hong Kong, à Oberhausen et dans la sélection « Canada’s Top Ten » du TIFF. Il a également présenté ses œuvres de cinéma élargi à l’international dans divers contextes d’exposition.
Il est cofondateur du collectif artistique et militant de « trans-projection » « Care Bois », basé dans la région du Traité n° 4, en Saskatchewan.

Twinklight is an ever-changing Expanded Cinema Performance observing and reflecting on the experience of online dating and the desire toward cruising culture. A performance combining light, colour, and shadows, using the surface of a trans body as a texture for projection.

BIOGRAPHIES
Elian Mikkola is a Finnish filmmaker (of Karelian descent), currently based in Montréal (Tiohtià:ke). Mikkola holds a BA in Journalism from Tampere University and an MFA from the University of Regina.
Mikkola works closely with both analogue and digital images and explores themes such as trans futurism, counter-archiving and queer belonging. They’ve done extensive research in experimental screenwriting and celluloid cinema since 2017.
Mikkola’s work has been showcased at several film festivals in Canada and internationally, including the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Hong Kong International Film Festival, Oberhausen, and TIFF’s Canada’s Top Ten. Mikkola has also showcased their Expanded Cinema work internationally in diverse exhibition environments.
They are a co-founder of the trans-projection activist and art collective, « Care Bois » based in Treaty 4, Saskatchewan.
