BIOGRAPHIES
Sid Frank est un artiste sonore basé à Montréal qui compose des drones électroniques minimalistes intégrant des sons issus de ses archives d’enregistrements de terrain, d’émissions de radio et de disques vinyles.
Michaela Michalak est une artiste transmedia queer, chercheuse en mouvements sociaux et écrivaine. Son travail artistique explore la politique de la mémoire en relation avec le son et le silence. Sa fascination constante pour les angles morts épistémologiques, ou la périphérie de ce qui est (in)visible, (in)audible, (il)lisible, l’a conduit à créer de multiples œuvres artistiques qui suppriment délibérément la « visualité » pour se concentrer sur d’autres modalités de perception et de connaissance. Après avoir été professeur adjoint au département d’études visuelles de l’université d’État de New York à Buffalo, il a été chercheur invité à l’université de Barcelone et artiste en résidence à Hangar.org à Barcelone. Il réside actuellement au Canada, où il est doctorant à la faculté des changements environnementaux et urbains de l’université York à Toronto. Leurs œuvres artistiques ont été exposées à la Galleria Can Felipa, à Hangar.org et à la Casa Velazquez en Espagne, au Fonds régional d’art contemporain Frac Languedoc-Roussillon (Montpellier, France), à la Galerie Mémoire de l’Avenir, à la Cité Internationale des Arts et au Festival International de Chorégraphie à Paris, à la Triennale d’architecture de Lisbonne, à la 2e Biennale de Moscou pour l’art jeune, à la Galerie Titanik (Finlande), au Musée Lopez aux Philippines, au Bronx Museum of the Arts et, au Canada, à Subtle Technologies à Toronto. Ils ont présenté leurs œuvres multimédias lors de festivals de cinéma et de vidéo au Mexique, au Brésil, aux États-Unis, au Canada, en France, en Espagne et au Portugal.
Après un baccalauréat en histoire de l’art, Nelly-Ève Rajotte entreprend un second diplôme de premier cycle à l’École des arts visuels et médiatiques (UQAM), formation qui se solde par l’obtention d’une maîtrise en 2006. Outre de nombreuses expositions en sol québécois –la Fonderie Darling, Parisian Laundry, Occurrence, Clark, Optica et Circa parmi tant d’autres. Ses œuvres ont été diffusées dans plusieurs festivals au Canada (MUTEK, Antimatter Underground Film Festival, Festival International du film sur l’art, Espace [IM] Média, ainsi que plusieurs festivals à travers le monde, International short film festival of Berlin and Official Selection Transmedial (Allemagne), Mutek (Argentine), Lab30 (Allemagne) EXiS, (Corée), Moscow International Film Festival and Finnish Contemporary Art Fair.

Sid Frank is a Montreal-based sound artist who composes minimalist electronic drones that incorporate sounds culled from his archive of field recordings, radio broadcasts and vinyl.
Michaela Michalak is is a queer transmedia artist, social movement researcher, and writer. Their artistic work investigates the politics of memory in relation to sound and silence. An ongoing fascination with epistemological blind spots, or the periphery of what is (in)visible, (in)audible, (il)legible, have led them to create multiple artistic works that deliberately with-hold “visuality,” to focus on other modalities of sensing & knowing. After being an Assistant Professor in the Visual Studies Department at the State University of New York, Buffalo, they were a Visiting Researcher at the University of Barcelona and an Artist in Residence at Hangar.org in Barcelona. They currently reside in Canada, as a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change at York University in Toronto. Their artistic work has been exhibited at Galleria Can Felipa, Hangar.org, & Casa Velazquez in Spain, Fonds Regional D’Art Contemporain Frac Languedoc-Roussillon (Montpelier, FR), Gallery Memoire de l’Avenir, Cite Internationale des Artes, & the International Festival of Choreography in Paris, The Lisbon Architecture Triennial, the 2nd Moscow Biennale for Young Art, Gallery Titanik (Finland), the Lopez Museum in the Phillipines, the Bronx Museum of the Arts, and in Canada, Subtle Technologies in Toronto. They have screened media works at film video festivals in Mexico, Brazil, the US, Canada, France, Spain, and Portugal.
