Two musical videos and two audiovisual performances.

Presentation of 500hz, 246hz, 245hz, 500hz∅ – study 03, Persona Mercure
500hz, 246hz, 245hz, 500hz∅ 2016-2017 is an installation that presents a sound exchange between two speakers positioned face to face and connected to two independent audio players. The speakers emit duo sine waves. Due to the proximity of the two speakers, their frequency units and to the modulation applied to their respective amplitude, a transformation of the initial waves can be heard.
500hz, 246hz, 245hz, 500hz∅ – study 03 is a 15-minute audio piece created solely from the sound elements of the 500hz, 246hz, 245hz, 500hz∅ 2016-2017 installation. The piece uses the same four sine waves as its starting point. For this event, it will be accompanied by a projection that includes, among other things, a graphic representation of the gradual and subtle changes in sound.

Vagues, Videomusic, 15’07 », by Myriam Boucher
I need the sea because it teaches me.
I don’t know if I learn music or awareness,
if it’s a single wave or its vast existence,
or only its harsh voice or its shining
suggestion of fishes and ships.
The fact is that until I fall asleep,
in some magnetic way I move in
the university of the waves.
– The sea, Pablo Neruda

Standing Still is a new performance project that follows the artist’s approach to abstract turntablism. She uses modified vinyl records, engraved or dismembered at the CNC to create music and kinetic light patterns. Lo-fi and raw, leaving room for improvisation, the project shows a darker perspective on technological innovation and corporate positivism.

Audiovisual performance in collaboration with Sonya Stefan

Structures impossibles takes the form of an audiovisual critique. More precisely, it asks us to be aware of our consumption of electrical and electronic goods as well as our increasing difficulty to recycle them. The criticism also targets the materials used in the manufacture of these different technologies.
The commercialization of the computer, Moore’s law, consumerism and the accessibility of new technologies accelerate obsolescence and increase our dependence on semiconductors. The international geopolitics of the Anthropocene era are challenged by the presence of electronic dumps and raw material extraction sites in the southern regions where populations receive very low incomes. The environmental and social impact is inversely proportional to the miniaturization of semiconductors.
The sound aesthetics of Structures impossibles is the juxtaposition of analog and digital circuits creating a dense and intertwined landscape of sporadic textures representing the acceleration of technological advances. The use of modular synthesizer, computer and sonic captures of electromagnetic fields offers an account of the impact of transhumanism on our spaceship »Earth ».

Sonya Stefan is a multimedia artist who creates interdisciplinary work using real-time electronic glitchery, High8 video cameras and 16mm film. She is interested in deterioration using damaged materials of all kinds, from broken video editing tables, to found and damaged film, to defective television screens. Stefan transforms these materials to make new contemporary multimedia works.
