Roger Beebe

Depuis janvier 2018, réalisateur/programmateur/professeur Roger Beebe effectue une tournée d’une durée 4 mois et couvrant une distance de 3000 miles sur la côte est afin de présenter certaines de ses performances mettant en scène multiples projecteurs. Plusieurs de ses nouvelles créations seront présentées en primeur aux côtés de certaines de ses performances les plus connues (incluant le spectacle » Last Light of a Dying Star « , utilisant six projecteurs) et d’une sélection de productions plus récentes en vidéo HD monocanal. Ces œuvres utilisent un large éventail de stratégies qui incluent des investigations formalistes de matériaux filmiques et des explorations de la fiction populaire sous forme d’essais. Elles abordent également une grande variété de sujets, allant du plaisir défendu des hommes en pleurs ( » Historia Calamitatum [The Story of My Misfortunes] « ), à la logique secrète de la Genèse ( » Beginnings « ), en passant par les suicides de Las Vegas ( » Money Changes Everything « ) et les espaces réels de l’économie virtuelle ( » Amazonia « ).

For the first time since 2011, filmmaker/curator/professor Roger Beebe returns to the East Coast in January 2018 for a 4-month, 3000-mile roadshow of a program of his multiple-projector performances. The program features several premieres of new works alongside some of his best-known projector performances (including the six-projector show-stopping “Last Light of a Dying Star”) as well as recent award-winning work in single- channel HD video. These works take on a range of strategies from formalist investigations of the materials of film to essayistic explorations of popular culture and a range of topics from the forbidden pleasures of men crying (“Historia Calamitatum (The Story of My Misfortunes)”) and the secret logic of the book of Genesis (“Beginnings”) to Las Vegas suicides (“Money Changes Everything”) and the real spaces of the virtual economy (“Amazonia”).
